Just a follow up post to the Orlando Scooter Society's second annual Snowbird Classic, duly named Camp Snowbird. The event started on Thursday evening, November 15 at the regular weekly hangout, Stardust Video and Coffee at 1842 E Winter Park Rd. Friday picked up at the same place at 2:00 as the local riders trekked out to the Wekiva Falls KOA campground in Sorrento, FL.
This weekend, the weather for camping was very mild, not warm, but beautiful for wrapping up. The rides were 50cc friendly (as always with O.S.S.) but they were also long and scenic. The ride Friday evening was mostly after dark, going to downtown Sanford to vist the local eateries. But on Saturday, the voyage through Mt. Dora, Tavares and Eustis were absolutely gorgeous.
On Saturday, lunch was at the Crazy Gator in Eustis and they had a nice meeting room for us and the food was great! Dinner was at the Swamp House in DeBary.
Also on Saturday, the Gymkhana site was set up for scooter games somewhere outside of Mt. Dora. The obstacle course was the toughest I've seen. Sandy conditions made it difficult to keep your bike up on two wheels. No major damage was done though! There was also plenty of other fun games too. The prize list and giveaways amounted to lots of quality scooter stuff.
Vespa Orlando sponsored the Sunday brunch at the campsite. The entire weekend was a huge success and all thanks to the tireless organizers from the Orlando Scooter Society. These volunteers worked very hard to pull this event off and I personally can't wait until the next Snowbird Classic Rally.
